The 2024 Lexus US Open of Surfing, presented by Pacifico, just wrapped up in Huntington Beach, and we’re still buzzing from the excitement! Held from August 3rd to 11th, this year’s event was a spectacular blend of world-class surfing, live music, and a vibrant beachside experience. This annual festival is the world’s largest surf competition and also hosts the WSL Longboard Tour and the WSL Challenger Series, the main pathway to the elite Championship Tour. Each day was packed with thrilling surf sessions, and each night came alive with the rhythm of live performances, including a headlining act by Sublime featuring Makua Rothman. It was our pleasure to enhance the atmosphere with an immersive signage activation that highlighted the spirit and energy of the event.
Bringing the Beach to Life
Our journey began at the operations compound where we set the tone with vibrant graphics that greeted attendees as they entered the festival grounds. Each sign was branded with US Open and WSL logos that captured the carefree vibe of the beach and the intensity of the surf competition. The vibrant yellows and blues ensured that everyone felt the excitement as soon as they stepped onto the sands. At the pier, we used a truss to create a stunning visual statement with a bold "Welcome" and secured dozens of sponsor logos, along the railings. Some of the sponsors including Lexus, Pacifico, Ralphs, and more were visible from the shoreline and on-air for folks tuning in from home. This visual journey continued along the beachfront, seamlessly integrating the vibrant energy of the festival with the natural beauty of Huntington Beach.
Creating Dynamic Experiences
We turned up the heat at the Beach Bar and X Games Skateboarding rink with colorful and engaging signage that brought a splash of personality to these areas. Our team designed each sign to be not just informational but also a part of the overall experience, enhancing the look and feel of every interaction point. Our print work also flowed into the X Games Bleachers, WSL VIP & Media sections, and the Store/Welcome Center, crafting a seamless visual narrative that carried through every aspect of the event. Each element was produced with both durability and aesthetics in mind, standing up to the coastal elements while maintaining a striking visual impact.

One of the highlights was the Awards Stage Backdrop, designed to provide a dramatic and inspiring setting for recognizing the champions of the event. Our installation team worked to ensure that the backdrop was not only visually stunning but also reflective of the essence of the US Open of Surfing. This backdrop encapsulated the essence of surf culture and the spirit of competition, adding a layer of prestige to the athlete recognition ceremonies
