Holiday Projection Mapping by A3 Visual: Let's Glow SF 2022

Let's Glow SF is the largest holiday projection mapping event in the United States and takes place in Downtown San Francisco each winter. This year marked the 2nd annual activation, and we are excited to once again be the lead projection mapping and technology partner for Downtown SF.

Downtown SF is a local 501(c)3 organization that is focused on improving the city's vitality through programming and other events. The 10-day installation helps spark commerce, tourism, and other key economic efforts throughout the 43-block radius.

A3 Visual’s Immersive Division helped transform buildings and public spaces throughout the city, turning them into a captivating, multi-sensory experience for attendees of all ages to enjoy. This year included 4 buildings that displayed various motion graphics from 14 different artists, musicians, and creatives, including 9 that were local to the Bay Area.

This event is a holiday favorite for many, including our team here at A3 Visual. Thank you to all who came out to attend this season. Here are some highlights from this year's activation!

Projection Mapping for Let’s Glow SF by A3 Visual

Our team at A3 Visual is proud to be the lead activation and technology partner for Let's Glow SF. Our projection mapping system brings a unique experience to life by transforming buildings into works of art with high-resolution projections, animation, light, and sound. We provided all the hardware, software, and creative services necessary to deliver an unforgettable experience for all.

The goal of our team was to make the Let's Glow SF event as immersive and interactive as possible. We incorporated a variety of technological advancements that allowed us to create a believable environment for the viewers.

This year's activation included 18 different Panasonic projectors, each with an output of 32,000 lumens. Our team was tasked with heavily prepping each of the four buildings included in this year's installation, ensuring smooth surfaces and even textures that would create a seamless canvas for each artist's work. Each projector was then carefully calibrated to ensure a flawless match once the stars came out and the lights turned on.

We also incorporated audio into the installation, using custom-built sound systems to transform the atmosphere with soundscapes and music. Our team worked tirelessly to create an unforgettable experience for attendees of all ages. We are proud to have been part of bringing life and beauty to Downtown San Francisco this winter.
